Nik Kershaw – The Riddle (HQ)

ALL art has meaning. Many times the artist doesn't know that they are, too, a brush of an even greater artist. This tune is well beyond the boundaries of divination. And it's not Nik's job as a conduit to authenticate it either way. Maybe he's the fool in green attire. Otherwise it wouldn't have ever made it to the airwaves for those with ears to hear. If you've ever come to the end of your rope or sat back and objectively viewed the world this song will make perfect sense for a while. That is, until you have to get laid or pay your bills.
The video is a little clearer for the more visual among us. After the spiral slide down and breaking through the wall, so begins the game of life for the seeker. And don't overlook that one of the "riddle makers" escapes as he enters. It really is an addictive game of life with ignorance truly being bliss. But where was the top of that slide? And where does "the hole" lead? The thrill of picking the lock is analogous to enlightenment. The lock itself is a hole in the ground of a higher or should I say another plane/perspective. Was the old man of aran the seeker who "got it?" yet is still tempted by that which will instantly take him out of his realization? After all, he's still in "the game", rather wise to the tricks employed but still unable to leave as the way out is either a return to youth, ignorance and seeing himself once again, by the hole as a complete stranger and merely an old man by a hole.
Gnostic like things speak loudly through art. Wise men fold. That doesn't mean they win. Nik's character is likely the old man after his next chosen step. Yes, the old man chased the girl down the hole. It was all that was left for him to do since he waited for himself to show up and discuss the darker matters when instead his future self was spellbound by the circus of life around him and dismissed all of his previous incarnations and gathered knowledge as an old man by a hole. And who best to challenge yourself better than yourself can. But if only the fool would take off his mask. I believe a familiar face would have unlocked it all, despite the hairline. And most surprisingly, the entire message might not be for Nik at all. Didn't he dismiss it as a bunch of rubbish? The song itself is just an old man by a hole?
    ?
Now go get laid and pay your bills. Move along, nothing to see here. Or don't get laid, don't pay your bills and stay by the hole, see it all and be bewildered by the next distraction, the next song, the next unknown or the next strange that comes along with an idea of how things are "out there", "in there" above or below.

As for religion (a riddle itself) why do cultures clash over words on paper when the only time God directly wrote anything was strictly on STONE?
