I hate that ppl even talk about Satch and him together. it's a total different world of Talent. one has it and one doesn't. Vai is just that much better in phrasing, playing, idea wise, creativity, and plain just knowing your guitar.

If you love this you'll love Ozric Tentacles. Certainly similar vibe going, both class acts!

The first 142 seconds of Riddle is the most perfect combination between effects and technique that I ever heard in my life. Epic….Amazing….Wonderful

Listening to this album all those years ago made me want an Eventide H3000 so badly. In fact, I still want one, but you can get other devices (even made by Eventide) that do the same thing without spending thousands.

What's sad is that America has no cultural arts appreciation in any sophisticated way that one can call unified or educated that is presented in mainstream media.

Acknowledge those who have influenced our psyches and allowed us to see further into Truth & Illusion by way of harmonic apparitions beyond time and space, infiltrating our fertile open minds.

Sounds that Bless us through feeling with boundless horizon and Celestial expanse.
But Americanoids just have Jimi Hendrix© Air Freshener sticks and memories.

Sometimes I wonder if this album has code intertwined within that only the people in the ZONE can de-code?

How so? Steve Vai is one of the most known instrumental rock guitarists out there with Passion & Warfare being a Gold album.

@EstevanMusic Agreed! In the early 90s, when Devin Townsend was singing for Steve, they played In My Dreams With You on the radio for awhile. It was sweet. =)
Now, Devin is a master in his own right.. and NEITHER of them are ever on the radio. But, I s'pose the same is true of most Metal bands as well. It's just up to us true appreciators and efficianados to seek the good music out where it plays. No Marty Friedman on the radio either, except for old Megadeth stuff.. unless you live in Japan. =)

@EstevanMusic A) That's a gay and WAY over-used comment. Lame. B)… STEVE VAI is underrated???? Seriously?? wtf, Man? and C) As long as people like what they like… NO one is "underrated".
Steve Vai is a guitar god in the minds and hearts of millions. And rightfully so. "Underrated" is a term that describes… what? Reviews by critics and magazines? Popularity? Some 'ranking' system that's created (and recognized!) by… who???
Dozens of TRULY 'underrated' guitarists. Steve Vai is not one.
