Mr. Lee playing ping-pong with his knumb-chucks is probably the most impressive thing I've ever seen.

Bruce Lee: one of the few people alive where if he was arrested and went to prison, prisoners would be scared of him instead of the other way around.

The ping pong/nunchuck clip is not real. It was an advert for Adidas iirc.

It's actually a shame, that this video stirs an authenticity controversy into the legend of an amazing human being. It doesn't matter which side of it you are on, both sides feed this. How about this, just let it go. Don't be on any side. Keep this legend in tact, please.

Why do all the great ones always leave us prematurely? RIP Bruce Lee.

As a person who has just entered the age of 19, I was wondering if anyone can give me advice? (Nothing too rude would be nice, I simply want help and I really don't want to push my own opinions on this comment; if I do, I apologize)

I've been really interested in a lot of mediums lately: expanding my universe and doing all types of music, painting, yoga, cyber diving, wine tasting, etc. And Martial Arts are one of the things that I have been simply dreading but really excited to look into. I live in the Chicagoland area and I am more so passionate of making the knowledge I've obtained from martial arts into my personal philosophy. I've looked at Krav Maga a lot, Judo, Muai Thai, Wing Chun, and Aikido (whether you think it's bullshit or not, I personally still believe it to be at the very least, something to find peace with, whether it will win you a fight with some dude.) I really don't know where to start and that's what bothers me the most. I was thinking of going into a self defense class first, just basic self defense, and then stem from there. I'm honestly just terrified that all the people in these schools will be meatheads that are so heavyweight that I will be looked at like some chump. Looking at comments of martial arts videos make me scared of the martial art community.

Bruce Lee is such a beautiful human being. This video is definitely inspirational and I want to learn how to fight to stop fights; train my body and push my soul; I don't want to fight or start fights. Ever. I will, like a sane human being, defend myself given the situation (since I live in goddamn Chicago), but my primary reason is to really find peace in fighting 🙂 Growth and knowledge through an ever expansive art that is not just simple destruction, but also ties in with philosophy.

If anyone has any idea where I could start (or any recommendations), I would gladly love the feedback. Thanks for reading this far (and sorry if this post belongs somewhere else or if I offended anyone!)

If Bruce were in his prime today, he would not even bother with MMA, or UFC; the competition would be way below him (because he was the best that ever lived). If he was this accurate with these weapons, how much more with his own fists and kicks. Most likely he would have been banned from MMA or UFC; he would have broken an opponent's sternum or killed with a shot to the throat or temples, and the opponent would never see it coming, just wake up the next day with no teeth and broken bones, if in fact they woke up at all.

I was watching the ping pong scene and thought "Oh okay that's neat." Then proceeded to spit all the water out of my mouth when I realized Lee wasn't using a paddle on a string, he was using super thin nunchucks.

His first words bring the most insight into his meaning for me. "Empty your mind". He's saying to lose the illusion of the "Self". Once you are no longer an Ego-self you can observe every situation without judgment and become it in the present moment. "Be formless, Shapeless".

I actually came here because I just realized this. It would be no surprise to learn that Bruce Lee was in to meditation.
