A species' forest, grassland, desert, river or sea is of, by and for, all the other native plants, animals, fungi and soil microbes which have occupied those places. It is their forest; the species' forest. The Species' Planet does not have a voice and certainly not the voice of actors. There is no universal translator for the minds of all those other species. However, if you visit a species' forest set-aside with the purpose of protecting it and speaking for it you will begin to understand that which we never will fully understand. Too late to work within nature, but we can work in concert with nature. By the way, if anyone is interested in coming to Boston Oct 21, 22 2017 you can help out behind our Species' Forest (Species Forest, Inc. nonprofit) table at the Boston Veg Food Fest. We are the only nonprofit of Massachusetts with the word SPECIES in our name. We will represent the actual Species' Forest, Conway, MA which is the first species' forest set-aside (since 2001) in the US. It's approx. 80 acres are filled with all the other species. Boston is a great town with many vegan restaurants especially on Massachusetts Ave. The BVFF gets thousand of people and the convention hall and lecture rooms are filled. Thousand of people will pass our table. Remember, there is a real species' forest; it is not just in the movies. Pal around with us on one or both days. Susan and I live only 32 miles from the species' forest. I warn you, the Species' Forest has no trails or facilities; get it? Forest walking only. It is the species' forest. We are unlike any other land trust. We speak for nature. Give Susan or me a call (802) 258-7845. We need people behind out table Oct 21, 22.

Is there any other biology student who needed to grin so much at the 'opposable thumbs' reference too? 😀 One of the – very few- actual apomorphies between animals and us indeed…

I don't think we should abuse nature, not in the least, but I'm afraid that this is how evolution works. The animal that is best fit to its environment has better chances at survival and gets to tame the weaker animals. It's a bloodbath, this Earth. I'm not saying this is okay, but it's just how it works. Even if there weren't humans, something else would have evolved enough to disrupt other animals' habitats. Humans are just showing that it's possible to evolve so much that you destroy what elvolved you in the first place.

All forests are rain forests. They store the rain, the carbon, the wildlife……. treat Forestry as a privledge care for the forests.

Humans ARE nature! Nature is not something separate from us; we are the waters, we are the soil, we are the minerals. This negative message is pushing separation from the earth, not bringing us closer to the reality that we are the earth. If we say that we've lost our connection to nature, truly we've just lost connection to ourselves. Making us feel bad with messages like 'nature doesn't need you' is not going to bring about energetic shifts in humanity towards love and unity, which is how we can actually bring about positive environmental action.

I'm willing to bet there's at least 5 people in the comment sections of each of these videos who still want to think we are so above Nature and can do without. Lol, oh boy what a rude awakening some people will have!

LOL All these people saying they hate people. People are evil parasites, blah, blah, blah. We're not some disease that happened upon this planet. We were meant to live here. Some humans are messing up things but that is just SOME. As for using houses and water and so forth: what else were we supposed to do? Worried about too many people? Push safer sex. You think these celebrities aren't wasting these resources they are pretending to save? These videos are just being shown to scare you and make you hate yourselves unless you hand out money. You think the celebrities are handing out as much (if any) as you? You want to slow down some destruction? Great. But, find some other means than the idea this pushes to you. The middle class is not killing the earth, the movie stars are not saving it. The big guys are doing the harm. Take it up with them in a good way, not a self centered way.
