I have tried this using ordinary Clear Wood Varnish instead of the Gel Medium and it worked very nicely. So if you don't have Modpodge available, use a clear wood varnish.

Does anyone know if this can withstand water? Like if I made something that would be outside forever?

A much simpler and cleaner way is to use this paper. This paper is specifically designed to transfer pictures onto Wood, canvas and other materials. it's a lot easier and the whole paper peels right off, you don't have to rub it off.

Tip: Flip the picture before you print it, then it will look normal on the wood.

I have been doing this for the last year or so. You need a laser print of the picture, regular printer ink doesn't work. I send mine off to UPS or Staples. I also mirror the image so it comes out the way the original picture does. In addition I gel the picture as well.

Howdie. I actually have a couple questions, just to verify. 1) It's just plain white paper, not photo paper? 2) Does it only work with black printer ink, or will colored ink pictures work also? Thanks! Take care. Be safe! Toodles, to all!

I found a great trick: After rubbing off most of the paper, I brushed the whole surface with baby oil, which makes the little bit of paper still remaining…clear!! Dry and then apply the finish Mod Podge.

Can this be done on a painted board, or does it have to be unfinished wood?

I think the viral bit came from the sense of fun and lightheartedness of the presentation. The fact that the presenter is stunningly pretty, and best of all, she has made a cracking video. Good production value, easy to follow, and very informative.

    Thank you for posting
