Why will not Kusanagi element be Japanese? Because yellow races are not in demand in Hollywood, do you? It's discrimination.

First impressions from the movie trailer:
It seems very weak, sluggish, colorful and really , edulcorated and
    shallow.
Those people appear not to be talented enough to equal the animated
    movie :
most of the scenes in this trailer seems to be under the animés level,
but It's always fun to see whites aping asians by disguising as them.

Everyone keeps bringing up The Last Airbender and Dragonball, but let's be honest, changing the race of the characters would not have saved the movie. (I mean, even Japanese live action renditions of anime tend to suck.)

So instead of fixating on two terrible examples, maybe you should see how Americans have re-contextualized Japanese works for Hollywood in movies like Edge of Tomorrow, Black Swan, or Chronicle.

Many complaining about whitewashing will still be buying a ticket on opening week and Hollywood understands that.

Make rated R, I will not attempted to even watch it if it's not rated R. I'm sure underage teens would still get their hands on this movie anyways if it were rated R so don't make it PG13!

I'm gonna watch this when it comes out, even though I don't think it's gonna be all that good. If only Carrie-Anne Moss was about 10-15 years younger than she is now, she would've been perfect cast for the major.

Wish Lucy Lu was playing the lead roll, just as it is based in Japan, Tokyo. Plus when you create something you tend to create it in your own self image, that being Japanese creators.

Are they using the Original Soundtrack by Kenji Kawai?
Just listen "type 2052 'hadaly" of the GitS Innocence OST, sounds exactly as the track used in this teaser

This looks shitty, plain and simple. If you're defending it, you have no allegiance to the original manga or the 1995 movie. That's fine, but don't go around acting like we fans aren't allowed to criticize the fuck out of it. This is a soulless shell (no puns here) of a timeless masterpiece and will be remembered as such.

And yeah before I'm done, I'll say it. I'm pretty pissed by the fact that there will be no nudity in this. I swear it's not because of I want to see her titties, as anyone can find that with a quick google search, but one of the themes of the original is the evolution of gender identity and also the evolution from sexual reproduction to mechanical, digital reproduction. With a strict western culture already overthrowing this work, censorship of artistic nudity will become a prevalent priority of this and who knows what else they'll throw out of the artist's original work. I'm already seeing a different atmosphere form the original altogether going on.

The only good to come of this, will be those who go back to see the original after watching this shitshow.

I hate this so much. Tired of Scarlett Johansson playing almost the same god damn roles over and over.
