Have seen this shit. Free and illegally, thanks to the torrent trackers. 100% west propaganda. The scums talk about Christmas and cheap girls while spreading like a Coca Cola and jewing gums a dreadfull massive bombs death above the innocent japan civilians. So its the first manipulation- us soldiers are brave. I personally saw how brave is american captured soldier. Shits and cries like baby. Second manipulation- the enemies of USA are cruel barbarians. Interesting, but Japan, nazi Germany, and fascist Italy are perfect civilisations compared with the american animals, killed 20 milions native indians, bravely, with gun fires and fake agreements for peace between indians and american invaders..The third manipulation- USA won the 2 world war. This is the biggest shit. The 2 world war was won by the Soviets (Russia), and USA must kiss the a$$ of Stalin for gratitude. Without Russia, USA would have been rural province of nazi Germany, speaking german and working for the german masters in Berlin. So what else to say. This movie is 100% dirty american propaganda, lies and rough hiding of the unprecedent war crimes of the USA, global terrorist N1 in the world. At least stop spit on japans, they just defended their Fatherland from the american invaders, and no japan bombs have been killing american civilians, but american ones- the japans. I even wonder to the japan humanism to take american prisoneers alive, I would not never do the same! Death to USA!

Can't believe there are so many comments without knowing any history backgrounds and think this is some kind of conflict between Japan and America. It is not.

Japan government did many war crimes. Not just for "enemy countries". People who was under their control. And they are still denying the history and teaching lies to the young Japanese. I saw many people like "get over it". It is done when the victims say it is done. Many Korean/Chinese victims are still alive and they haven't got any apology from Japanese Government. They use "we feel sorry. But it wasn't wrong" term, not like German Government. If you do just little research, you would find politicians in Japan still saying like "there was no sex slavery and war crime". Not individual Japanese, POLITICIANS of Japan.  They still teach there was no war crime to the young Japanese.
For you, it looks like it is some kind of conflicts between countries. But it is not. It was just war crime performed on Korean/Chinese and even American as you can watch from the movie.
As you said, we need to make a progress. Korean and Chinese are ready to forgive. If Japanese Government say "I am sorry. We did sex slavery and it was wrong. We killed thousand people and it was wrong. We brought young Korean/Chinese people to use them for building and mining. We even used young Korean/Chinese people to use as a pilot for suiciding air plane. And they were wrong.", it could finish wayyyy early.

The point of this movie,in my opinion was to show the determination of Louis Zamperini and him suriving throughout everything he had been through. Not bring up hate towards the Japanese.

Read the forgotten highlander. The Japanese have not been shamed in the way that they should have in the same way that Germany has been forced to carry shame. The US and British governments have screwed over hundreds of thousands of soldiers tortured, starved, killed and forced to labour on the Burma railway; our governments have abandoned justice in favour of building this Asian enclave of capitalism to fight the Russians and Chinese. Alistair Urquhart and Louis Zampreni are strong-spirited individuals who came back from the war to see their government accept the atrocities committed towards them.

I think it is wise to understand that all nations have a brutal history throughout wartime periods .
    Ideals are peaceful
    History is violent .

It was an honour to be in this movie as an Omori Guard. This movie helped my acting career move forward.  I have worked with Angie from November 2014 for a few months.  Angie was very professional caring lady and great director to work with.  IMDb: Katsu Nojiri http://www.imdb.com/name/nm6313648/
