Anxiety ~ Spoken word poetry ~ Poem

The trembling started again
The fear that you can’t get away from yourself
She told me to breath
5 things I can see and all is see is black
That’s 5 breaths and its time for 4
4 things I can feel
And I feel them faster, breathing faster now
Pain, fear, disappointment, I’m breathing too fast
Slow down
3 things I can hear..
My heart beat, its faster and faster
I can actually hear my trembling
The vibrations, the shaking
2 things I can smell?
1 thing good about myself?
I can’t take it
I slam my hands on the table
My arms…
So I can feel something different
5 times on the table
4 times
3 times
2 times
1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1 time!
And I just can”t stop crying
Squeezing everything just trying to hold it in
Just wishing it would all go away
Shaking, squeezing, it won’t stay in
I just want to hold it in
Breath … 5,4,3,2,1
I’m so light headed
That I feel like it is gone
I just want to fall asleep
Completely wiped out
Just weeping
I just want it all to end
The squeezing doesn’t work anymore
I can’t hold it here
I used to be able to hold it in here so it only effected me
But now It’s like it’s bursting out my seems
Sometimes it comes out of my heart
And I feel heart broken
Sometimes through my head and I feel so confused and lost
Sometimes it’s from my eyes, raging fury
And sometimes it’s as if it wants to walk my soul right out the front door
The lady in the office called it anxiety
I’ve always called it that too
But now it’s name has changed
It’s just pain now
It’s just pain.
