FAT // A SLAM POEM

I’ve been trying to write this poem for like 3 months now and last night, I had some strange moment of inspiration and I banged this out in a little over an hour. I’m looking off camera the whole time because I’m reading it, I ain’t got no time to memorize a 7 minute poem. + the little strange jumpcut that happens in the middle only happens because my camera decided to split the clips in half and in turn, lost about 0.1 seconds. So there’s some fun facts for ya!!

I always love to hear your reactions to my work, so comment and let me know what you think. xoxo //

this is so empowering and amazing. i may not know you, but im proud that you've been able to work towards over coming something so hard. you're beautiful and deserve a gold medal for this poem ❤ i say we 🖕🏻to all the disgusting people out there that think they have the right to hate on people and make them feel as though they arent worthy, because we're ALL valid and deserve a place in this world.

I'm 13 and 216 pounds and i've tried time and time again to starve myself because of the hate and side glances and the fact everyone just assumes i want to look this way, just assuming i "must eat a discusting amount of food to be that huge". No one even giving a thought that Maybe i don't have a choice in this, that maybe no matter what i try, no matter what i don't eat, no matter what i do, that i can't control a disease i was born with.

It doesn't matter what you look like. Every one is pretty in our own ways. I feel insecure and that since i can remember. People used to make fun of me so i felt exactly like this.

Well then… hit the gym girl. No matter what we say people will judge us. We will ALWAYS be judged by our appearence. We can't control what people think but we have the power to change ourself.

THIS is so powerful and so fucking true. Everyone wants you to be skinny. But what if I feel good, even if I'm "fat". I'm not skinny, but I feel beautiful. Society should learn to accept everyone. We all live on the same planet. So why do we treat each other like shit?

when she said she was isecure about her body since she was 7 I just could not hide the tears! A small kid who has the time to be happy wastes it's time to think it is diffrent, and that they are bad! What a society
