Great scene but he should totally go for her sister. Not Andie.
Also, the english translation is actually better than the french text. Which is weird.

I always wondered why he played that at the beginning. For contrast? What do you guys think?

For me the best scene in the movie among many other favorite scenes. You need the story to understand what's exactly happening.

In the film, he is trying to get a donation for Bronte's group. He succeeds. The woman with the checkbook is suitably moved.

an amazing scene – honestly though my (old) memory recalls it more powerfully than actually watchign it again, funny how memory exadgerates things – still to cover so many emotions in a single scene so well, its amazing… he was amazing.

Is it weird for a middle age man to cry watching this part? That man is totally not me. πŸ˜‰

Brilliant scene. First apprehension, he doesn't want to play. Then shock, then, I can't stop laughing, then, I'm crying! Who could make this scene believable? But he did it. πŸ’

Once I heard the sound of the wind in the trees
Once I heard the sound of the laughter of children
And I wept warm salted tears for the lost trees
Let the little children come onto the trees and I will give them hope
But there are no trees for the poor lost children
    Decay is their toy
    Despair is their game
They have only chaos to climb.

I don't know about the rest of the movie. I'm watching it for company and it hasn't "grabbed me" but that scene caught my attention and held it so well that I had to come here and watch it again. …and it did so bring tears to my eyes.
