Any woman who had the courage to be herself,in the 1950s was most certainly brave. Most women were too afraid to express themselves in ANY way let alone in such a rebellious "Fuck you world!"sort of way.It took serious guts for her to do what she did.It might not seem like much now…but, that woman was basically demonized by society for reciting that simple poem. She was smart enough to know it would further marginalize her but,she had the courage to be true to herself.

Who remembers the "Insomniac" in Hermosa Beach, CA. It was on Pier Ave., right by the "Old Hermosa Pier". I grew up in the area and used to ride my bike over there and just sit and stare at those "Strange People". Hey, I was only 12 or 13 at the time (late 50's early 60's). The Insomniac was an indoor/outdoor cafe. And these folks with french berets and rap-around shades and black turtle neck sweaters would be drinking espresso and smoking "funny smelling stuff" all day long. Yes they also had their Go-Tee's and long cigarette holders. And they would talk and sing crazy (Skating). My mom told me to quit going over there or the smoke in the air would make me go crazy. "Like squaresville cool daddy and hip cat". I guess she was right because I became a hippy in the late 60's.

Dam. I honestly think women used to be better looking. They are to fake looking for me these days. Instagram models usually look like mannequins.

Yah know. This is the birthplace of hiphop. Speaking a rhyme over a beat. Some of this stuff is pretty jazzy

What a gas, man. I remember watching this video about 8 years ago – it's stayed with me and I keep coming back to this poem.
