Reciting A German Poem (+ Text On Screen) | ‘Spruchreif’ | VlogDave

This is my German poem called “Spruchreif” – German poetry!

“Spruchreif” – “Ready to be said”

English translation (somewhat literal):

Language kills, language bonds
language, ’till life runs out
First syllables, last deeds
Learning, loving and betraying

Words wait unstoppable
infiltrate ourselves deeply
get stuck like emotions
dark, yet bright as sunshine

Sentences put circumstances
concisely into the world
at least this is what that one believes
the one, who’s bursting at the seams

Authors text opinions
partly awkward, yet always tempting
debauching vagely about the topic
facts both on and under the table

If the story shows one thing
it’s how often one says “oh boy”
One should have been silent
when one can speak freely.

Deutcsch: Ich schreibe auch Gedichte, auf Englisch, natürlich. Das Gedicht klingt gut auf Deutsch. Dieses Gedicht war eher abstrakt, aber ein Gedicht kann alle deine Arbeit nicht vertreten. Wer hat am meisten beeinflusst dein Schreiben?

English: I write poetry, too, in English, of course. The poem sounds good in German. This poem was rather abstract, but one poem can't represent all your work. Who has most influenced your writing?

That is really clever! And lovely too, after reading the English translation, it sounds so much more better in German ^^ You are a talented poet! 🙂
