One of my favorite voices to hear. In its roughness and directness, there is some sort of calming softness and security. Thanks for posting this!✨

Bukowski becomes more and more relevant with every year that passes.

There is visible awe in his face between reading the last line and remarking 'that's a beauty'. I want to bottle this awe

Lord I thank you for postponing Heaven. I thank you for this Hell on Earth. I thank you for opening this realm to my Demon kin for they too would know what it means to live without stain or sin. And there is no winning or losing afterall just this ongoing Happening. So Rapture all those who would and will be raptured till all those who know only how to capture and be captured finally see the light and themselves move on to your endtime Rapture. Meanwhile it's true the light is fading to charcoal grey but perhaps that's just the night's way of saluting your everlasting day. Who knows, who knows but in the end everything and everyone must and will have their say. And yes we may erase it but for now it seems it must be lived so we may face it and move away till we are fit to replace it. They say all kinds of things are going into foundations these days even broken glass – an God alone knows what else. Still it's all foundational I suppose.

    The Laughing Heart

    your life is your life
don't let it be clubbed into dank submission.
    be on the watch.
    there are ways out.
    there is a light somewhere.
it may not be much light but
    it beats the darkness.
    be on the watch.
the gods will offer you chances.
    know them.
    take them.
    you can't beat death but
you can beat death in life, sometimes.
and the more often you learn to do it,
the more light there will be.
    your life is your life.
know it while you have it.
    you are marvelous
    the gods wait to delight
    in you.

you can beat death in life, sometimes." ( my fav part)

I woke up with this poem in my head this morning. Who better to read it to us than the great Tom Waits…

Tom Waits was a bouncer in his early years before fame. My father owned a rough bar…not that he planned it that way. I was a kid. Got to know the bouncers there. Learned from them. Miss those guys. A tough job. Miss that unusual light. Still here with me, though.
