I have the worse case of wall paper removal. I tried everything and still damaged the wall badly. I guess I'll have to skim coat it now. God help me.

With old paper that wasn't properly sized sometimes the drywall gets dinged up no matter what. In cases like that I use one of those 3 inch stiff red devils and get what I can. Then I do a very heavy coat of guards and pole sand it with a 360 pad with 100 grit. After that I roll on on mud with a 3/4 inch nap and feather it out with a 16" pool trowel. porter cable sand and prime. Sounds like a lot of work, but if the paper is very problematic this is the best way I've found.

Great video as always. I did not realize you pulled the vinyl part down first, that would make a big difference.

What is your opinion on using an oil based primer after wallpaper is removed and prior to painting with latex paint?? I plan on removing wallpaper down a hallway and two walls of my dining room. Thanks for all you do.

I have found it a good idea to wipe the drips off the entire wall. Sometimes, the drips telegraph through the paint as they contain wallpaper paste.
