"Her refuge from the world" the room looks more like her dull claustrophobic prison.

The "rest cure" was nothing more than a way of causing a unbalanced and depressed woman to go into a  fit of hysteria. with nothing to do and nobody for help it could turn anybody crazy. I feel so sorry for that poor woman.

I remember watching this as a little girl back in 1989. It scared me, especially the part with the eyes on the wall. I actually thought the room was supposed to be haunted.

This reading is creepy at first glance… But once read with eyes wide open it's a beautiful piece of literature. 👌

Thank you so much for this.  I've never heard of C.P. Gilman but now will try to read as much as I can of her.   Wonderful moody adaptation.  Cheers.

When I read this I pictured it in my head to be very similar to how it's portrayed in the film, that's crazy

Oh, wow.  I remember this on PBS in 1989.  I don't know what made me watch this, I was 21 years old, but I kept on watching.  Disturbing.  I wanted to throw up.

The sound on this is exactly what it always sounds like to watch a movie in class. That weird super loudness of a very used, very tired television.

@lindapittsburgh The only possibility I know of would be 2002, The Jury. You can access all information about it at Internet Movie Database (IMDB).

I'm watching it right now and I have sound. Something is wrong on your end. I don't know what to tell you. Check your sound settings.
